Fifteen years ago we, collectively and individually, took a knee to pray, in our own way, for those we lost, their families, the country, and the world. We raised our flag and our heads showing the world, and ourselves, we were united and strong.
Fifteen years later, where’s the Spirit of 9/12? Our politicians, “leaders”, and the media have artfully categorized and sub-categorized us, driven wedges between us, all for their benefit; not ours. With their help and guidance, we slide down the slippery slope of judging all by the actions of a small few. We no longer seek common ground, only ground to defend.
Our country was founded and is strengthened by our diversity. Our diversity allows us to accept and grow uniquely in the world. We should, readily and openly, acknowledge the problems and injustices which exist. Not to let them define who we are; but, to use them and solve them. Strengthen our resolve to become better individuals and a better nation. Be responsible and accountable for your actions and reactions. Do not let circumstances or others dictate your response.
We watch people today taking a knee to acknowledge and highlight injustice and their hope for tomorrow; but, a knee is a lot better than a rock. Remember, fifteen years ago we all took a knee. Judge less, accept and respect more. Consider; you might be in the minority and yet, you still want your voice heard and your position understood. Our future is as bright as we allow it to be; because, we are stronger together than divided. We showed that fifteen years ago…
Let the Spirit of 9/12 be our guide, and Never Forget….
Never Fear the Dream…….
